Latest Attack on the Homeless
When most people think of the homeless they get an image of a dirty, scruffy-looking person pushing a shopping cart full of their belongings. But many of the homeless have jobs and money, but no place to store their belongings if they have no automobile.
Thats where self-storage warehouses come in. They provide a place for the homeless to store their personal items while they are at work, or are looking for work.
But, according to a story in the LA Times, that may come to an end if the newly adopted policy of one storage facility becomes widespread.
DL Storage of Santa Monica has suddenly begun demanding proof of an address, such as a utility bill, before renting space. The company says it's in case they need to contact renters quickly in case of emergency, and not because a brand new Mercedes dealership opened up next door.
